What We Do

White Pine Advisory offers investment management and advice for individuals and non-profits. Our clients include people saving for retirement, retirees who don’t want to outlast their savings and others who just want to invest their nest egg wisely for the long term. We have also worked with non-profits to establish their endowments or that want to improve the management of their existing endowments. With all of our clients we work to ensure that their investments are aligned with their values.

For Individuals

Many people have assets to invest but do not have the knowledge, the time or the inclination to manage their investments in order to save for retirement, for their children’s education or other long-term goals. White Pine Advisory can relieve you of this burden subject to the guidelines that you set out for us. We offer the following services:

  • Direct management of your IRA or self-directed retirement portfolio.

  • Direct, tax-aware, management of your non-retirement savings.

  • Guidance on choosing options for your employer sponsored retirement plan.

  • Advice on your overall portfolio of assets.

With all individual clients we work to:

  • Ensure that your investment portfolio fits your long-term needs and the level of risk that you are comfortable with.

  • Build sustainability into your portfolio, focusing not just on what to avoid but also on investments that are making a positive contribution to society and the world at large.

For Non-profits & Endowments

Many small non-profits struggle with managing their endowments or their staff’s retirement plans. We can offer assistance with the following:

  • Direct management of the endowment.

  • Establishing policies and procedures for managing your endowment.

  • Defining an endowment spending policy that sets an appropriate balance between providing a reliable flow of endowment funds to support operations and maintaining the endowment’s value in real terms.

  • Establishing a sustainable investment policy that aligns the endowment’s holdings with the organization’s values.

  • Designing an appropriate 403b employer sponsored retirement plan or evaluating an existing plan.

No matter who the client is, White Pine always begins by listening closely to their financial priorities, goals and needs. This is the starting point for our customized investment guidance.

We charge our clients a fee based on the value of their assets and do not make any extra money from trading commissions or from selling particular investment products so that our interests are always aligned with those of our clients.

White Pine does not hold clients’ assets itself. We recommend a custodian, TD Ameritrade, who would be responsible for safeguarding our clients’ investments and sending quarterly statements, if appointed. By placing these responsibilities in the hand of a reputable third party we can ensure our clients that their savings are properly accounted for.

The minimum asset size for investment management services is $250,000. Investment guidance is also available on a fee for service basis.

In all cases White Pine Advisory will act as a fiduciary to its clients, always placing their interests ahead of its own.
